How to Care for Handmade Crystal Charms and Waxed Cord Accessories

To clean a handmade crystal charm, wipe the stone and tag with a soft cloth; use a lightly damp cloth for a small mark, then let the whole piece dry naturally. Do not soak the assembled charm. Nevorii’s handwoven waxed cord, knots and engraved tag need gentle care alongside the natural stone.

This guide is for Nevorii's stone-and-cord accessories, including the double clear quartz bag charm and black obsidian and clear quartz matching set. A gentle routine is easier on the assembled charm than treating it like a loose stone.

After everyday use: wipe, then check

Use a clean, soft cloth to remove dust from the stone and metal tag. For a small mark, lightly dampen the cloth rather than pouring water onto the charm. Wipe gently around the cord net without pulling the strands apart, then leave the piece in a shaded, ventilated place until dry.

Do not use abrasive powders, polishing compounds, alcohol or household cleaning sprays on the assembled accessory. These may affect the cord or metal finish. If a stain does not lift with gentle wiping, stop rather than scrubbing harder.

Keep waxed cord out of soaking routines

Waxed cord is used for the woven structure around the stone. It is not a reason to assume the whole accessory is waterproof. Remove a pet pendant before bathing or swimming, and keep a bag charm away from the washing machine. Avoid soaking, steam cleaning and drying beside a heater.

Once wet, do not tug or tighten knots while trying to dry the piece. Let it dry naturally and inspect the weave before using it again. Persistent looseness or a damaged strand needs attention; a knot that looks different is not something to ignore.

Protect the natural stone from knocks

Raw stones have irregular surfaces. Keep the charm from striking hard floors or heavy keys repeatedly. When packing it for travel, wrap it in a soft cloth or place it in a separate pouch. A scratch or chip is a reason to check for a sharp edge, especially on a piece worn by a pet.

A quick check before a dog wears a pendant

  • Look for fraying, loose knots or movement in the metal ring.
  • Check the stone and tag for damage or sharp edges.
  • Make sure the fit does not invite chewing or snagging.
  • Remove the pendant if the dog bites it, seems uncomfortable or plays in a way that catches accessories.

A pet pendant is decorative. It cannot replace an identification tag, collar or leash attachment. Some dogs are better suited to an owner-only charm, and that is a sensible choice.

Give the pieces a place to rest

A dry pouch works well between uses. A walnut crystal dish can also keep a charm in a familiar place at home. Set it down gently rather than dropping the tag onto the chips. Keep the wooden dish dry and wipe it with a soft cloth.

Traditional crystal-cleansing rituals are a separate matter from physical cleaning. They do not remove dirt or repair cord. For everyday care, the useful habits are simple: gentle wiping, careful storage and regular checks.
